A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DOWNEY REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO CONSOLIDATE A
SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF SAID CITY TO BE
HELD ON NOVEMBER 4, 1980, WITH THE STATEWIDE
GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON SAID DATE
PURSUANT TO SECTION 23302 OF THE ELECTIONS CODE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Downey called
a Special Municipal Election in said city to be held on
November 4, 1980, for the purpose of submitting to the
qualified voters of said city a measure relating to low rent
senior citizen and handicapped housing as hereinafter set
forth; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable that said special municipal
election be consolidated with the statewide general election
to be held on the same date and that within said city the
precincts, polling places and election officers of the two
elections be the same, and that the Registrar of the County
of Los Angeles canvass the returns of the special municipal
election and that said state general election and special
municipal election be held in all respects as if there were
only one election;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Downey
does hereby resolve, determine, and order as follows:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to the requirements of Section
23302 of the Elections Code, the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Los Angeles be and it hereby is requested to
consent and agree to the consolidation of a special municipal
election with the statewide general election on Tuesday,
November 4, 1980, for the purpose of submitting to the
electors of the City of Downey a measure to appear on the
ballot as follows:
Shall there be developed, constructed and /or
acquired within the City of Downey, with available
public financial assistance, low rent housing to
serve senior citizens and handicapped
persons of low income with such housing project or
projects not to exceed a total of 300 dwelling units?

SECTION 2. Said Registrar is hereby authorized to
canvass the returns of said special municipal election which
it is hereby requested to consolidate with said state wide
general election and said election shall be held in all
respects as if there were only one election, and only one
form of ballot shall be used.
SECTION 3. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby
requested to issue instructions to the Registrar to take any
r ` and all steps necessary for the holding of said consolidated
election.
SECTION 4. The City of Downey recognizes that
additional costs will be incurred by the County by reason of
this consolidation and agrees to reimburse the County for
any such costs.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk of the City of
Downey is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this
resolution with the Board of Supervisors and the Registrar
of the County of Los Angeles.
SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the adoption of this Resolution and thenceforth and there-
after the same shall be in full force and effect.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Downey, held on the 12th day of August,
