A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
ORDERING ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN AREAS TO THE LIGHTING MAINTENANCE
DISTRICT AD 121 AND TO MAINTAIN AND FURNISH ELECTRICAL CURRENT
TO THOSE STREET LIGHTING FIXTURES LOCATED ON STREETS AND PUBLIC
PLACES WITHIN THOSE AREAS UNTIL JANUARY 31, 1983.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Downey on June 10, 1980, adopted
Resolution No. 3811, declaring its intention to order certain improvements; and
WHEREAS, on June 10, 1980, the City Council by Resolution No. 3811 set Tuesday,
July 8, 1980, at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall of the City of
Downey, as the time and place for hearing protests to the proposed improvements; and
WHEREAS, on July 8, 1980, at the time and place specified, a public hearing
was held in accordance with Resolution No. 3811, notice having been given in the
manner required by law; and
WHEREAS, at the hearing, the City Council did pass upon all written and oral
protests made in reference to the improvements.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The boundaries of those areas to be annexed to the Lighting Maintenance
District AD 121 are described on Plan Nos. SL 100/51, SL 189, SL 227, SL 228, SL 232A,
SL 248, SL 252, SL 272A, SL 275, SL 278, SL 287A, SL 303, SL 305 and SL 316 and
boundary descriptions on file in the office of the City Clerk and by this reference
made a part thereof.
SECTION 2. The improvements consist of the installation of street lighting
I standards and furnishing of maintenance and energy for those street lights described
in the Report of the Engineer dated June 10, 1980, as approved by the City Council.
SECTION 3. The entire estimated cost of the improvements shall be borne by the
District, and shall be paid by special assessment charged against all the lands and
improvements within said area for the period beginning July 1, 1980, and ending
January 31, 1983.
SECTION 4. The improvements described in Resolution No. 3811 and the Report of
the Engineer, submitted pursuant to Resolution No. 3809 and approved by Resolution
No. 3810, shall be made in the manner and at the time prescribed by law.
SECTION 5. The City Council finds that the Southern California Edison Company,
subject to the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commission of the State of
California, is the only contractor practically capable of serving the street lighting
improvement in the manner provided for and as described herein. It is, therefore,
ordered that the improvement of the Lighting District be carried out by the Southern
California Edison Company in accordance with the plans and specifications.
SECTION 6. The Mayor is authorized and directed to 'execute the contract with
the Southern California Edison Company for the improvements in accordance with the
plans and specifications and in accordance with rates and rules filed by said Company
from time to time with the Public Utilities Commission of the State of California.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and
cause a certified copy thereof along with diagrams and assessments to be filed with
the County Auditor to provide for the collection of costs incurred and further shall
cause a copy of this Resolution to be published once in the Southeast News and Downey
Champion.
