HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 3781 RESOLUTION NO. 3781 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY OPPOSING STATE ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 2257 CONCERNING THE RESTRICTION OF THE INTRA- AGENCY USE OF TAX INCREMENT FUNDS OUTSIDE OF PROJECT AREAS FROM WHICH SUCH FUNDS ARE GENERATED. WHEREAS, existing law allows a redevelopment agency to use proceeds of tax increment revenues in project areas of such agency other than the one from which such revenues were generated; and WHEREAS, the enactment into law of Assembly Bill No. 2257 would result in a major revision of the existing law affecting the financial capability of redevelopment agencies to carry out their functions; and WHEREAS, the enactment into law of Assembly Bill No. 2257 would take away the authority of the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Downey to borrow funds from one project area for use in a higher priority area as determined by local needs and requirements and in accordance with locally developed plans; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Downey that it opposes the enactment into law of Assembly Bill No. 2257 and strongly urges the Legislature and its committees to disapprove said bill. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Downey that the City Clerk shall transmit copies of this resolution to: Hon. William Campbell California State Senator, 33rd S.D.
