A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
APPROVING A CITY /STATE AGREEMENT FOR THE WIDENING OF THE
NORTHERLY (INBOUND) SIDE OF THE I -5 SANTA ANA FREEWAY AND
RESCINDING PRIOR AGREEMENTS DATED DECEMBER 23, 1952, AND
JUNE 1, 1954, AND RESOLUTIONS OF CHANGE NO. 391 DATED
FEBRUARY 24, 1959, AND NO. 2599 DATED OCTOBER 26, 1971.

WHEREAS, the State proposed to improve the northerly (inbound) side of the I -5
Santa Ana Freeway (07 -LA -5 6.1/9.5) in the City of Downey from the City of Norwalk
city limit at Orr and Day Road and the City of Commerce city limit at the Rio Hondo;

WHEREAS, the freeway improvements in Downey include the installation of sound
walls and reconstruction of portions of Brookpark Road within the present public
right -of -way between Paramount Boulevard and Lakewood Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, this project will require the upgrading of the Paramount Boulevard and
Lakewood Boulevard interchanges, including ramp metering and traffic signal systems
involving portions of City streets; and
WHEREAS, the State agrees to complete all phases of
g p p s this proposed project at
no cost to the City of Downey.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Downey hereby approves the agreement for the
widening of the northerly (inbound) side of the I -5 Santa Ana Freeway (07 -LA -5
6.1/9.5) in the City of Downey.
SECTION 2. That prior Santa Ana,Freeway agreements dated December 23, 1952, and
June 1, 1954, and Resolutions of Change No. 391 dated February 24, 1959, and No.
2599 dated October 26, 1971, are hereby rescinded.
SECTION 3. That the responsibility for damage and /or liability is understood
and agreed to by both parties pursuant to Government Code Sections 810.8 and 895.4..
SECTION 4. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute said agreement on
behalf of the City of Downey.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
