A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DOWNEY ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE GENERAL PLAN
MAP FOR AREAS IN THE DOWNEY REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
AREA (SUBAREA A).
WHEREAS, a General Plan Report and General Plan Map were adopted
by the City Council on January 8, 1973, by Resolution No. 2760,
in conformance with Section 65508 of the State Planning Law; and
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission adopted Resolution No. 280
recommending that the City Council, following the required public
hearing, approve and adopt said amendment to the General Plan Map,
by Resolution; and
WHEREAS, the City Council gave required notice and did hold a
public hearing on July 10, 1979, for the purpose of considering the
adoption of an amendment to the General Plan Map (representing the
Land Use Element Map of the General Plan of the City of Downey),
and at which public hearing said proposed amendment and General Plan
Map were displayed and explained and;
WHEREAS, said amendment proposes to change property located in the
Downey Redevelopment Project Area (Subarea A); and
WHEREAS, following said public hearing the City Council gave further
careful consideration to testimony and all facts and opinions offered
at the aforesaid public hearing;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
Downey hereby approves and adopts, recommends and finds as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council adopts said amendment
to the General Plan Map which amendment changes prop-
erty generally as follows: (A) For either Low - Medium
Density Residential or Retail Commercial for property
generally starting at the intersection of Paramount
Boulevard and Comolette Avenue, thence southeasterly
along the centerline of Comolette Avenue a distance of
120 feet. Thence at a 90° angle southwesterly to the
centerline of Devenir Avenue. Thence along the center-
line of Devenir Avenue to the centerline of Paramount
Boulevard. Thence northeasterly along the centerline of
Paramount Boulevard to the point of the beginning.
(B) For either Low - Medium Residential or Retail Com-
mercial on property starting at the intersection of Para-
mount Boulevard and Puritan Avenue, thence southeasterly a
distance of 120 feet along the centerline of Puritan Avenue.
Thence at 90° angle southwesterly to the centerline of
Gardendale Street. Thence at a 90° angle northwesterly
along the centerline of Gardendale Street to the center-
line of Paramount Boulevard. Thence northeasterly along
the centerline of Paramount Blvd. to the point of begin-
ning.
SECTION 2. The City Council finds that said amendment is
necessary for sound future community development, the
preservation of community values, and the promotion of the
general health, safety, convenience, and welfare of the
citizens of the City of Downey.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 10th day of July , 1979,
by the affirmative vote of a majority of the full membership of the City
Council, Downey, California.
