HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 3612 RESOLUTION NO. 3612 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY REQUESTING FUNDING BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FOR THE CERRITOS CORRIDOR JUVENILE DIVERSION PROJECT WHEREAS, Cerritos Corridor Juvenile Diversion Project has served seven Southeast communities, including the City of Downey, since December 1975; and WHEREAS, since its initiation, the Project has received 2, 555 referrals of troubled youths from local law enforcement and educational agencies; and WHEREAS, the troubled youths who constitute the clientele of the Project receive expert counseling and assistance from local agencies who contract with the Project; and WHEREAS, the Project currently requires $50, 000 in funding to allow its continuance of operations through the end of the current fiscal period; and WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles has received an 18 million apportion-. - PP ortio n ment from the State for improving juvenile justice and crime prevention in the County; and WHEREAS, the Cerritos Corridor Juvenile Diversion Project serves an .-. important crime prevention function for the people of the City of Downey; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY, that the Council expresses its support of the current efforts by the Cerritos Corridor Juvenile Diversion Project to receive funding by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the end of the current fiscal period from its unallocated AB 90 apportionment.
