HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 3543 RESOLUTION NO. 3543 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE GENERAL PLAN MAP FOR AREAS IN AND NEAR THE DOWNEY REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT AREA. WHEREAS, A General Plan Report and General Plan Map were adopted by the City Council on January 8, 1973, by Resolution No. 2760, in conformance with Section 65508 of the State Planning Law; and WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission adopted Resolution No. 173 recommending that the City Council, following the required public hearing, approve and adopt said amendment to the General Plan Map, by Resolution; and WHEREAS, the City Council gave required notice and did hold a public hearing on May 23, 1978, for the purpose of considering the adoption of an amendment to the General Plan Map (representing the Land Use Element Map of the General Plan of the City of Downey), and at which public hearing said proposed amendment and General Plan Map was displayed and explained and; WHEREAS, said amendment proposes to change property located in or near the Downey Redevelopment Project Area; and WHEREAS, following said public hearing the City Council gave further careful consideration to testimony and all facts and opinions offered at the aforesaid public hearing; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Downey hereby approves and adopts, recommends and finds as follows: SECTION 1. The City Council adopts said amendment to the General Plan Map which amendment changes property generally as follows: (A) From Low - Medium Density Residential to General Commercial for property generally starting at the intersection of Paramount Boulevard and Devenir Avenue, thence southeasterly along the centerline of Devenir Avenue a distance of 160 feet. Thence at a 90 angle southwesterly to the centerline of Puritan Avenue. Thence northwesterly along the centerline of Puritan Avenue to the centerline of Paramount Boule- vard. Thence northeasterly along the centerline of Paramount Boulevard to the point of beginning. Such property is located at 12900 -12912 Paramount Boulevard, Downey, California. (B) From Low - Medium Density Residential to Retail Commercial for property generally starting at the intersection of Paramount Boulevard and Adoree Avenue, thence southeasterly along the centerline of Adoree Avenue a distance of 160 feet. Thence at a 90° angle southwesterly to the centerline of Comolette Avenue. Thence along the centerline of Comolette Avenue to the centerline of Paramount Boulevard. Thence northeasterly along the centerline of Paramount Boulevard to the point of beginning. Such property is generally located at 12800 Paramount Boulevard, Downey, California. The subject property is improved with a 33,218 square foot commercial building located north of Redevelopment Project Subarea A. (C) From Retail Commercial to Low - Medium Density Residential or property starting at the intersection of Paramount Boulevard and Puritan Avenue, thence southeasterly a distance of 160 feet along the centerline of Puritan Avenue. Thence at 90° angle south esterly a distance of 705 feet. Thence at a 90° angle northwesterly to the centerline of Paramount Boulevard to the point of beginning. Such property is generally located at about 12930 -13032 Paramount Boulevard, Downey, California. (D) From Medium Density Residential to Retail Commercial for property generally starting at the intersection of the centerlines of Woodruff and Nance Avenues. Thence easterly along the centerline of Nance Avenue approximately 147 feet. Thence northerly on a line parallel to Pangborn Avenue a distance of about 189.5 __ feet, thence westerly on a line parallel to Nance Avenue to the centerline of Woodruff Avenue. Thence southerly along Woodruff Avenue to the point of be- ginning. Such property is generally located at about 9411 Nance Street, 11240 Woodruff Avenue, Downey, California. (E) From Professional Commercial Overlay to Medium Density Residential Overlay for property generally beginning at the intersection of the center- lines of Davis Street and Dolan Street. Thence southerly along the centerline of Dolan Street a distance of 480 + feet. Thence northwesterly along the northern boundary line of Tract No. 14296 to the centerline of Downey Avenue. Thence northerly on the centerline of Downey Avenue a distance of 310 + feet. Thence southeasterly at a 90° angle a distance of 180 + feet. Thence northeasterly at a 90° angle a distance of 25 feet. Thence southeasterly at a 90° angle a distance of 62 feet. Thence northeasterly at a 90 angle to the centerline of Davis Street. Thence easterly along the centerline of Davis Street to the point of beginning. Such property is generally located at 11552 -11610 Downey Avenue, 8325 -8334 Davis Street, 11547 Dolan Street, and 8319 -8333 and 8316- 8340 Texas Street, Downey, California. -- SECTION 2. The City Council finds that said amendment is necessary for sound future community development, the preservation of community values, and the promotion of the general health, safety, convenience, and welfare of the citizens of the City of Downey.
