A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DOWNEY ESTABLISHING A POLICY AND APPROVING DESTRUC-
TION OF CERTAIN RECORDS WITHIN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
— WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has advised the City Coun-
cil that certain records within the Police Department of said
city are neither required by statute nor necessary for the
operation of the department after a period of four years; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the destruction of
said records will not in any way interfere with the services
and functions of the Police Department or other city depart-
ments;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Downey
does resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council hereby approves the
destruction of the following records which are in
charge of the Chief of Police of the City of
Downey, and establishes the policy of retaining
the most recent four complete years of traffic
collision reports, unless there is litigation
pending or a bench warrant outstanding:
(1) Traffic collison reports for the
years through and including 1973.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adop-
tion of this resolution and thenceforth and there-
after the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 14th day of March ,
1978.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly
adopted by the City Council of the City of Downey at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 14th day of March 1978,
by the following vote.
