HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 3489 RESOLUTION NO. 3489 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN REGIONAL APPLICATION TO CALIFORNIA COUNCIL ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE FOR YOUTH SERVICE SYSTEM THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Downey has been informed that the Office of Criminal Justice Planning may consent to review continued funding an existing Youth Service System, Cerritos Corridor Juvenile Diversion Project (CCJDP) in the Southeast region of the County of Los Angeles which includes the Cities of Artesia, Bellflower, Cerritos, Downey, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood, Paramount and school districts located therein. SECTION 2. That the City of Downey has prepared a grant application with technical assistance from the Los Angeles County Sheriff for a Youth Service System, CCJDP, which includes the Cities of Artesia, Bellflower, Cerritos, Downey, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood, Paramount and school districts located therein and such Youth Service System has functioned since December 1, 1975, serving a representative group of Downey youth. SECTION 3. That the ,Mayor is directed to execute, and the City Clerk to attest, and submit to the California Council on Criminal Justice on behalf of the City of Downey those portions of the application for grant for law enforcement purposes that relate to the City of Downey as a participant in the region. SECTION 4. That in the event the California Council on Criminal Justice con- sents to continue funding the above project, the City of Downey agrees to accept the grant and designates the Mayor to execute on behalf of the City of Downey the contract for the grant for law enforcement purpose as may be required as a regional participant. SECTION 5. That the City Council of the City of Downey does agree to receive and administer all grant funds in accordance with guidelines set forth in the California Office of Criminal Justice Planning; Fiscal Affairs Manual. SECTION 6. That the City of Downey, agrees to provide all matching funds required for said project (including any extension or amendment thereof) under the Crime Control Act and the rules and regulations of Office of Criminal Justice Planning and the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration and that cash will be appropriated as required thereby. SECTION 7. That grant funds received hereunder shall not be used to supplant ongoing law enforcement expenditures. SECTION 8. Resolution No. 3474 hereby is rescinded.
