A RESOLUTION OF THE DOWNEY CITY COUNCIL AMENDING THE
GENERAL PLAN OF LAND USE FROM GENERAL COMMERCIAL AND
BUFFER TO R1 SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL LAND USE FOR
THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF
LAKEWOOD BOULEVARD AND ALAMEDA STREET.
GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT NO. 1
WHEREAS, the City Planning Division and the City Planning Commission
reviewed and revised the General Plan adopted by the City Council on the 8th
day of January, 1973, and subsequently prepared a proposed General Plan
Amendment Report No. 1, and General Plan Map, each dated the 12th day of
October, 1976, and did all those things legally and technically required by
law to develop a report and map adequate in scope and authority to serve the
purposes of a General Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission gave required notice and did
hold a public hearing on the 20th day of October, 1976 for the purpose of
considering the adoption of said proposed General Plan Amendment Report No. 1
and Map and at which public hearings said General Plan Amendment Report No. 1
and Map were displayed and explained; and
WHEREAS, following said public hearings the City Planning Commission
gave further careful consideration to testimony and all facts and opinions
offered at the aforesaid public hearings; and
WHEREAS, at a meeting held October 20, 1976, the Planning Commission
adopted General Plan Amendment Report No. 1 and Map by Planning Commission
Resolution No. 151 and recommended said General Plan Amendment to the City
Council of the City of Downey; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing has been held before City Council rela-
tive to adoption of the recommended amendment; and
WHEREAS, a notice of said public hearing was given in the manner
provided by law; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds the proposed General Plan Amend-
ment will promote community objectives and serve to promote the general
public health, safety and welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby
amend the General Plan of land use from General Commercial and Buffer to
R1 Single Family Residential Land Use for the property located at south-
west corner of Lakewood Boulevard and Alameda Street shown in the attached
Exhibit "A" as recommended by the Planning Commission.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 9th day of November, 1976.
