A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
ORDERING ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN AREAS TO THE DOWNEY CITY
LIGHTING DISTRICT AND TO MAINTAIN AND FURNISH ELECTRICAL
CURRENT TO THOSE STREET LIGHTING FIXTURES LOCATED ON
STREETS AND PUBLIC PLACES WITHIN THOSE AREAS UNTIL
JANUARY 31, 1983 (ANNEXATION 76/28 THROUGH 76/37)
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Downey on August 10, 1976,
adopted Resolution No. 3315, declaring its intention to order certain
improvements; and
WHEREAS, on July 13, 1976, the City Council by Resolution No. 3315
set August 10, 1976, in the Council Chambers of the City Hall of the City
of Downey, as the time and place for hearing protests to the proposed improve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, on August 10, 1976, at the time and place specified, a public
hearing was held in accordance with Resolution No. 3315, notice having been
given in the manner required by law; and
WHEREAS, at the hearing the City Council did pass upon all written and
oral protests made in reference to the improvements:
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The boundaries of those areas to be annexed to the Downey
City Lighting District as described on Plan Numbers SL 100/53, SL 297,
SL 104, SL 192, SL 242, and SL 215 and boundary description on file in the
office of the City Clerk and by this reference made a part hereof.

• SECTION 2. The improvement consists of the installation of standards
and furnishing of maihtenance and energy for street lighting as described
in the Report of the Director of Community Development dated July 13, 1976,
as approved by the City Council. •
SECTION 3. The entire estimated cost of the improvement shall be borne
by the District, and shall be paid by special assessment taxes levied upon all
the lands and improvements within said areas for the period beginning
July 1, 1977, and ending January 31, 1983.
SECTION 4. The improvement described in Resolution No. 3315 and the
Report of the Director of Community Development submitted pursuant to
Resolution No. 3314 shall be made in the manner and at the time prescribed
by law.
SECTION 5. The City Council finds that the Southern California Edison
Company subject to the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commission of
the State of California, is the only contractor practically capable of serving
the street lighting improvement in the manner provided for and as described
herein. It is, therefore, ordered that the improvement of the Lighting
District be carried out by the Southern California Edison Company in accordance
with the plans and specifications.
SECTION 6. The Mayor is authorized and directed to execute the contract
with the Southern California Edison Company for the improvements in accordance
with the plans and specifications and in accordance with rates and rules
filed by said Company from time to time with the Public Utilities Commission of
the State of California.

SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution and cause a certified copy thereof and the map or plan of the
district to be filed with the assessor whose roll is used for the levy and
with the State Board of Equalization and further shall cause a copy of
this Resolution to be published once in the Southeast News and Downey
Champion.
SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution.
