RESOLUTION NO. 3109
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
ADOPTING A PROGRAM OF AFFIRMATIVE ACTION
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Downey in accordance
__ with the Equal Opportunity Act of 1972, is dedicated to its continued policy
of eliminating all discriminatory practices in recruitment, employment,
training, advancement, assignment, layoff or termination, and pay for all
levels and classifications. The City shall not discriminate in any way based
upon race, color, national origin, religious belief, sex or age.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Personnel Advisory Board and the City Manager
have recommended to the City Council an Affirmative Action Program attached
hereto as Exhibit "A" which is hereby made a part of this resolution.
SECTION 2. The Affirmative Action Program, Exhibit "A" will
be coordinated and procedures will be enacted by the City Manager.
SECTION 3. The Affirmative Action Program, Exhibit "A" hereby
is approved and adopted and shall become a part of Personnel Rules and
Regulations heretofore approved and adopted by the City Council.
SECTION 4. The City Council shall cause a copy of this resolution
and Exhibit "A" to be filed with the City Clerk, and the City Clerk shall
cause Exhibit "A" to be kept current by indicating amendments thereto duly
adopted by resolution of the City Council.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of April, 1975.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Downey
thereof held on the 14th day of April, 1975, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: 4 Council Members: Winton, Scotto, Jennings, DiLoreto
NOES: 0 Council Members: None
ABSENT: 1 Council Member: Temple

• AFFIRMATIVE ACTION PLA
POLICY STATEMENT
In compliance with City of Downey's City Council Resolution •
Number 3109, which commits the City of Downey to a policy of Affirma-
tive Action in accordance with the Equal Opportunity Act of 1972, I
hereby accept the responsibility and pledge my full support to a policy
of non discrimination and equal opportunity in this City.
The policy of this City will be the continued elimination of all
discriminatory practices in the areas of recruitment, employment,
training, advancement, assignment, layoff or termination, and pay
for all levels and classifications. The City will not discriminate in any
way due to race, color, national origin, religious belief, sex or age.
Equal opportunity, however, will only be achieved through
leadership and aggressive implementation of a viable Affirmative Action
Program. It is incumbent that leadership be demonstrated at all levels -
of management and supervision. I further charge each employee of this
• City with the responsibility of demonstrating a positive attitude, as well
as a good faith effort in complying with the Affirmative Action Admini-
strative Regulation. •
