A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DOWNEY AUTHORIZING APPLICATION
FOR 1974 STATE GRANT FUNDS
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the
"State Beach, Park, Recreational, and Historical Facilities Bond Act of
1974" which provides funds to the State of California and its political sub-
divisions for acquiring lands and developing facilities for public outdoor
recreation and historical purposes; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and Recreation has been
delegated the responsibility for the administration of the program within
the State, setting up necessary procedures governing application by local
agencies under the program; and
WHEREAS, Los Angeles County must provide to the State Depart-
ment of Parks and Recreation by July 1, 1974 a priority plan of expendi-
tures of all local jurisdictions for projects to be included in the 1974/75
fiscal year allotments;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That this City Council hereby authorizes application
for State Grant Funds.
SECTION 2. That this City Council certifies that the projects
listed on the Priority List of Projects, "Exhibit A ", attached hereto and
made a part hereof, are in accordance with the Plan for Leisure and
Cultural Services of the City of Downey and will not adversely affect
the development of surrounding communities.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution and provide for appropriate distribution thereof.

by the City Council of the City of Downey at a regular meeting thereof held
on the 25th day of June, 1974, by the following vote, to wit:

EXHIBIT "A"
PRIORITY LIST OF PROJECTS
CITY OF DOWNEY
1. Rives Avenue School Acquisition - 7 acres.
Address: 12 548 Rives Avenue, Downey
School surplus property located adjacent to existing 10.7 acre
neighborhood park at 12 540 Rives Avenue in a geographical
section of the community that is deficient in open space and
recreational facilities.
2. Bellflower Boulevard Sports Facility.
Address: 12334 Bellflower Boulevard, Downey
Acquisition and development of 10 acres. Purchase of Parcels
D and E for development of sports complex in the southeast
section of the City in an area that is substantially deficient
in open space. Acquisition will provide a total of 10 acres
for the complex and is consistent with the Master Plan.
3. Redevelopment Area.
Acquisition and development of neighborhood park site in
the southwest section of the community as a part of an overall
redevelopment project.
4. Construction of Multi - Purpose Gymnasium and Indoor Sports
Center - 13, 520 square foot facility.
