HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2787 RESOLUTION NO. 2787 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY STATING OPPOSITION TO THE ROUTE 90 (SLAUSON FREEWAY) AND OPPOSING ANY FUTURE FREEWAYS THROUGH THE CITY WHEREAS, the California Legislature has adopted a Master Plan of Freeways; and WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 256 of the Streets & Highways Code, this Master Plan is reviewed every four years; and WHEREAS, the Route 90 Freeway is intended to be routed through the Southeastern section of the Los Angeles Metropolitan area, including the City of Downey. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Council is in opposition to the Route 90 (Slauson Freeway) passing through the City of Downey. SECTION 2. That the City Council hereby opposes the establishment or construction of any freeways within the City in addition to those herein - before established. SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and transmit certified copies thereof to the City of Downey Public Works Department for transmission to the Division of Highways.
