HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2737 RESOLUTION NO. 2737 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY CONSENTING TO ESTABLISHMENT OF PORTION OF GARFIELD AVENUE WITHIN SAID CITY AS A PART OF THE SYSTEM OF COUNTY HIGHWAYS OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors did on September 19, 1972, duly adopt a Resolution declaring Garfield Avenue between Huntington Drive and Cherry Avenue at the northerly boundary of the City of Long Beach and Cherry Avenue between Garfield Avenue at the northerly boundary of the City of Long Beach and Ocean Boulevard as a part of the System of Highways of the County of Los Angeles, all as provided in Sections 1700 to 1704, inclusive, of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California; and WHEREAS, said Board of Supervisors by said Resolution requested this Council to give its consent to modify and interconnect traffic control signals and do appurtenent work within said portions described above; and WHEREAS, a report of the impact of the proposed improvements on the environ- ment has now been completed. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Consent to Inclusion in County Highway System. This City Council does hereby consent to the establishment of Garfield Avenue between Huntington Drive and Cherry Avenue at the northerly boundary of the City of Long Beach as a part of the Systems of Highways of the County of Los Angeles as provided in Sections 1700 to 1704, inclusive, of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California. Said consent is for the purpose of modification and interconnection of traffic control signals and performance of appurtenant work for the above described road by the County of Los Angeles. SECTION 2. Approval of Negative Declaration. This City Council does hereby approve the Negative Declaration dated July 28, 1972. SECTION 3. Effect on Environment. This City Council does hereby find that: The project has no significant effect on the environment. SECTION 4. Finding of a Minor Nature. (Should the City Council find ant pursuant to Government Code, Section 65402 (b), the aforesaid improvements is for street construction of a minor nature, include the following:) This City Council does hereby find that pursuant to Government Code, Section 65402 (b), the aforesaid improvements is for street construction of a minor nature and that, therefore, the provisions of said Section requiring the submission to and report upon said project by the City Planning Agency do not apply. SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of October , 1972.
