A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
ADOPTING JAIL INMATE WORK POLICY
WHEREAS, the California Penal Code Section 4017 provides that a
City may adopt an appropriate order requiring City prisoners to perform

such order said prisoners, if injured while performing labor for the
respective City, may be deemed an employee and eligible for Workmen's
Compensation benefits,

excluded from coverage under Workmen's Compensation laws, thereby
precluding added cost to the City,

AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. All persons confined in the City jail or other detention
