A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DOWNEY EFFECTUATING THE MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY MANAGER AND
THE DOWNEY POLICE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION
DATED JULY 13, 1972.
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Employee Relation Ordinance
( #394) the City Manager and the Downey Police Officers Association have
submitted a Memorandum of Understanding for the determination of the
City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Table I (Plan of Salary Schedules) on pages
78 -79 of the Downey City Personnel Manual relating to sworn classified
employees of the City be and the same is hereby amended by increasing
each of the rates shown therein by 5. 5% for members of the sworn Police
service only, effective July 1, 1972.
SECTION 2. Section 3 on page 63 of the Downey City Personnel
Manual is hereby amended to read as follows:
"When any dependent of any permanent employee is
enrolled in a medical plan approved by the City, the
City shall contribute the following percentage of the
dependent's medical plan, which shall be paid for by
the City to the medical group or company designated
by the City:
Percentage of City
Contribution Effective Date
50% January 1, 1972 (now in effect)
75% January 1, 1973 (Miscellaneous only)
75% April 1, 1973 (Sworn Police & Miscellaneous only)
100% January 1, 1974 (Miscellaneous only)
100% January 1, 1975 (Sworn Fire and Miscellaneous only)
SECTION 3. That the 42 months schedule of eligibility for salary
step increases as set forth by Resolution # 2697 for non -sworn employees
shall apply to all City employees hired after July 1, 1972.
SECTION 4. That section 4 B on page 63 of the Downey City
Personnel Manual be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
B. Required uniforms of sworn police personnel which
become worn may, upon supervisory direction, be
surveyed and replaced as necessary up to a budget
limit of $125. per member per year. Supervisors
shall permit maximum discretion to officers in the
selection of items of uniforms, provided, however,
that any officer shall meet uniform standards within
ten (10) working days after notice, after which the
cost of such needed uniform shall be deducted from
his salary. Surveyed uniforms shall become the
property of the City.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
