HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2693 RESOLUTION NO. 2693 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY AS SUCCESSOR OF THE DOWNEY COUNTY �-- RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY TO THE CITY OF DOWNEY WHEREAS, on the 23rd day of June 1966 in accordance with the provisions of the District Reorganization Act of 1965 (Sections 56000 et seq. of the Government Code of the State of California) the Downey Recreation and Park District was dissolved; and WHEREAS, at the time of its dissolution the territory of the District was located within the incorporated Cities of Downey, Bellflower and Norwalk; and WHEREAS, at the time of said dissolution the greater assessed value of all taxable property within the territory of the dissolved District as shown on the last equalized assessment roll of the County of Los Angeles was within the City of Downey; and WHEREAS, the real property hereinafter described and com- monly referred to as "Dennis the Menace Park" was located within the City of Downey; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 56507(c)(1) of the Government Code and the resolution of the Board of Super- visors of the County of Los Angeles confirming the dissolution of the Downey Recreation and Park District said real property is vested in the City of Downey; and WHEREAS, the City of Downey pursuant to the provisions of Section 56501 of the Government Code is the successor in interest to said dissolved District for the purpose of winding up the affairs of the dissolved District; i NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Downey does resolve as follows SECTION 1. The City Council hereby finds and determines I for the '"" that it is the successor purpose of winding up the affairs p of the dissolved Downey Recreation and Park District and finds further that the property described on Exhibit "A" attached here- to and by this reference made a part hereof is located within the City of Downey and that prior to the dissolution of said District title thereto was vested in said District. SECTION 2. That that certain grant deed marked Exhibit "A" a copy of which is attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof, conveying the real property described therein from the Downey Park Recreation and Parkway District to the City of Downey shall be executed by the Mayor on behalf of the City of Downey as the successor to said dissolved District and the City Clerk shall cause the same to be recorded with the County Recorder of the County of Los Angeles. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
