A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
DESIGNATING CRIME PREVENTION WEEK
WHEREAS, the impact of increasing criminal activity on this Nation and
on our community is of grave concern to all our citizens; and
WHEREAS, the need for determined citizen action to deter this alarming
increase in lawlessness was never more needed than now; and
WHEREAS, Exchange Clubs throughout the Nation, and particularly the
Exchange Club of Downey, guided by the National Exchange Club, are about to
launch their 25th annual Crime Prevention program highlighted by the obser-
vance of National Crime Prevention Week; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of this beneficial effort on the part of Exchange
Club members is to dramatically demonstrate the terrible penalty in both
pain and property loss which criminals extort from all of us, and to show
our citizens how full support of a variety of crime prevention measures can
reduce this terrible cost.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. National Crime Prevention Week shall be observed in this
City beginning on February 6th, 1972, and continuing through February 12th,
1972.
SECTION 2. All citizens are urged to be cognizant of and to cooperate
fully in carrying out the objective enunciated in the Exchange Clubs'' Crime
Prevention slogan, namely: "Crime...Don't Let it Happen!"
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Downey thereof held on
the 25th day of January, 1972, by the following vote, to wit:
