A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
URGING TAX DEDUCTIBILITY FOR THE UTILITY USERS TAX
WHEREAS, the City of Downey in common with many other cities, has
enacted a Utility Users Tax; and
WHEREAS, this Tax is separately designated on utility bills as a
tax; and
WHEREAS, the audit trail of Utility Tax funds can be verified through
the City's financial establishment.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That this City Council hereby urges the Internal Revenue
Service to issue a ruling declaring that the Utility Users Tax is suffi-
ciently identifiable as a local tax to be subject to deduction for income
tax purposes.
SECTION 2. Copies of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the
Internal Revenue Service, Office of the President, Legislative Officials,
Secretary of the Treasury Department, and other California Cities that
have established a Utility Users Tax.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 8th day of November, 1971.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by
the City Council of the City of Downey at a regular meeting thereof held
on the 8th day of November, 1971, by the following vote, to wit:
