A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
REQUESTING JUSTIFICATION OF THE EXPENDITURES OF COUNTY
TAXES COLLECTED IN DOWNEY
WHEREAS, the proposed new County tax rate of $4.84, applied against
Downey's assessed valuation of $235,374.880., yields revenue to the
County of $11,392,144. per year; and
WHEREAS, serious questions have been raised in this community as to
the justification of this tax rate in consideration of the services
received from the County by the people of Downey.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That this City Council does hereby request the Los
Angeles County Board of Supervisors to provide a detailed accounting of
the services provided by the County within the city limits of the City of
Downey, the costs of such services for 1970 -71 and 1971 -72, and the total
amount of each service charge collected in Downey.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution and shall provide for appropriate distribution thereof.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of June, 1971.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by
the City Council of the City of Downey at a regular meeting thereof held
on the 14th day of June, 1971, by the following vote , to wit:
AYES: 4 Councilmen: Winton, Jennings, Hollis, Ferris
NOES: 0 Councilmen: None
ABSENT: 1 Councilmen: Morton
