HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2450 RESOLUTION NO. 2450 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY CORRECTING THE EDUCATION INCENTIVE PAY PROGRAM WHEREAS, the Education Incentive Pay Resolution as originally drawn did not reflect the intent of the parties to the Memorandum of Understanding upon which it was based. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Section 22 Education Incentive Pay of Part II Compensation of that certain document entitled City of Downey Personnel Manual, is amended to read as follows: "Section 22. Education Incentive Pay. Sworn Police Personnel receiving their Certificate prior to July 1, 1970, shall receive additional compensation at the following rates upon attainment of the applicable education level: 1. One -half salary step for Associate in Arts degree or Intermediate Police Officers Standards and Training Certificate. 2. One salary step for Bachelor's degree, or Advanced Police Officers Standards and Training Certificate earned on at least the basis of 90 Education and Training points (including 15 college accredited units) plus 9 years of law enforcement experience. Sworn Police personnel receiving their Certificate after July 1, 1970, shall be required to obtain the following certification and education standing to be eligible for the above incentive pay; provided, however, that those who were eligible to have received said Certificate prior to July 1, 1970 may still qualify on the basis of Paragraphs 1 or 2 above, and provided further, that such eligibility for the Intermediate Certificate shall be based upon POST standards as such standards were effective beginning September 1, 1970. 3. One -half salary step for Intermediate Police Officers Standards ar Training Certificate, reflecting a sophomore standing, or Associate in Arts degree upon completion of recruit academy training. 4. One salary step for Advanced Police Officers Standards and Training Certificate including a minimum 45 college accredited units and provided at least 15 college accredited units are for Junior or higher level courses, or a Bachelor's degree upon completion of recruit academy training. The City Manager may approve substitute training equal to the above standards. The 'college standings' referred to are as defined by Los Angeles State College for the quarter system and Long Beach State College for the semester system. The 'Police Officers Standards Training Certificates' referred to indicate levels of achievement in effect on July 1, 1970, except as modified above. Regardless of future changes in Police Officers Standards Training requirements, the above levels are the minimum qualifications for the indicated rates. This benefit attaches to individuals and not to rank." -1- SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of September , 1970.
