HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2407 RESOLUTION NO. 2407 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY RELATIVE TO THE TOPICS PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Downey has declared its intention to participate in the Traffic Operations Program to Improve Capacity and Safety, '— known as TOPICS, by action on February 9, 1970, and; WHEREAS, such participation would result in allocation of $83,755 for 1969 -70 fiscal year and $82,925 for 1970 -71 fiscal year for provision of traffic capacity and safety related improvements on certain important traffic streets in the City of Downey if the required procedures are followed; THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY THEREFORE RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City of Downey desires to accumulate funds from 1969 -70 fiscal year and 1970 -71 fiscal year apportionments for use by the City in financing a more substantive program than could be achieved using individual apportionments. SECTION 2. The Public Works Department is hereby authorized and instructed to prepare a TOPICS Study Proposal and, upon approval of the Proposal, proceed with such study using regularly allocated funds and shall complete such study prior to January 1, 1972. SECTION 3. The Public Works Department is further authorized to submit an application for an interim TOPICS Project to rectify the capacity and safety problem on Imperial Highway between City Limits in advance of completion of the TOPICS Study Report and, if such application is approved, prepare plans and specifications for that project. It is the intention of this Council to obligate funds for that project within 6 months after approval of such application. SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
