HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2366 l RESOLUTION NO. 2366 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY OPPOSING STATE SENATE BILL 38 WHEREAS, State Senate Bill 38 would give the authority for allocation of gasoline tax money to the State Highway Commission instead of using the Mayo -Breed formula of 55 -45 or the new formula of 60 -40, and WHEREAS, under the present system, the City of Downey has been able to program its gasoline tax budgets and street construction projects on a comprehensive and businesslike, long -range basis, and WHEREAS, the proposed Senate Bill 38 would replace this dependable formula with unpredictable and politically vulnerable State Highway Commission action which might vary widely from year to year, thus resulting in inefficient programming, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County, on March 10, 1970, went on record as vigorously opposing Senate Bill 38, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Downey does resolve as follows: SECTION 1. That this City Council joins with the Board of Supervisors and other cities of Los Angeles County in strongly opposing Senate Bill 38. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall provide appropriate distribution for this legislation to affected State legislators. APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of March, 1970.
