A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ANNEX CERTAIN AREAS TO THE
DOWNEY CITY LIGHTING DISTRICT AND TO INSTALL, MAINTAIN
AND FURNISH ELECTRICAL CURRENT TO THOSE STREET LIGHTING
FIXTURES LOCATED ON THE STREETS AND PUBLIC PLACES WITHIN
THOSE AREAS UNTIL JANUARY 31, 1983 (ANNEXATION G)

Area 3 - Buhman Avenue
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The public interest and convenience requires, and it
is the intention of the City Council of the City of Downey to order,
the annexation of certain areas to the Downey City Lighting District,
and to maintain and furnish electrical current to those street
lighting fixtures located on portions of streets and other public
rights -of -way within the City (all as shown on Plans Nos. SL -95
and SL -96 on file in the office of the City Clerk) for a period of
time beginning at the formation of the district and ending January 31,
1983, in accordance with the Report of the Director of Public Works
dated April 9, 1969, on file in the office of the City Clerk and
which by this reference is made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. The annexation is of more than ordinary benefit,
and the expense of the improvement to be charged by assessment to
the district which Council declares to be the district benefitted
by the improvement. The district is that property located on Sideview
Drive and Buhman Avenue between Brookpark Road and Cedartree Road
as shown on Plans Numbers SL -95 and SL -96 on file in the office of
the City Clerk which shall govern for all details as to the extent
of this assessment district.
SECTION 3. Any lots or parcels of land known to be public
property, as defined in Section 18014 of the California Streets and
Highways Code (Street Lighting Act of 1919) which are included in
the assessment district shall be exempt from any assessment to be
made to cover the costs and expenses of the improvement.
SECTION 4. The improvement contemplated by this Resolution of
Intention shall be done under the provisions of Part I of Division 14
of the California Streets and Highways Code as amended (Street Lighting
Act of 1919), and under the alternative procedure for ad valorem assess-
ments provided for in Chapter 8.5 of the Act.
SECTION 5. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 18070 of the
California Streets and Highways Code, the City Council of the City
of Downey hereby appoints the hour of 7:30 p.m., May 12, 1969, in the
Council Chambers in the City Hall of said City as the time and place
for hearing protests in relation to the proposed annexation.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall give notice of said hearing in
the manner provided in said Part I, Division 14 of said Streets and
Highways Code, The publication of such notice, as required by
Section 18072 of said Code, shall be made in the "Southeast News and Downey
Champion," a newspaper published and circulated in the City of Downey
and hereby designated by said City Council for said purpose of publication.
SECTION 7. The Director of Public Works of the City of Downey
shall cause notices of the passage of this resolution to be conspicuously
posted along all streets in the district where the improvement is pro-
posed to be made or which is to be assessed for the benefits thereof as
required by Section 18071 of the California Streets and Highways Code.
SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution.
