A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO VACATE A PORTION OF ALLEY
BETWEEN PARAMOUNT BOULEVARD AND PARROT AVENUE NORTHERLY
OF GALLATIN ROAD
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Downey, upon recommendation of
the Planning Commission, hereby declares its intention to vacate a portion of the
a:_ley located between Paramount Boulevard and Parrot Avenue, as shown on map on
file in the office of the City Clerk to which reference is made for further
particulars. The area to be vacated being described as:
A Portion of Tract No. 16287 recorded in Book 373, pages 1 and 2 of
Maps recorded in the Office of the County Recorder, County of Los Angeles,
State of California, described as follows:
Parcel A Commencing at the southerly corner of Lot 1 of said Tract 16287;
thence northeasterly along the southeasterly line 40.93 feet to the true
point of beginning; thence North 3 51' 25" East 14.14 feet; thence North
41 08' 35" West 5.00 feet; thence North 50 27' 43" East 15.00 feet to a
point in the southerly line of O.R. 11379 -273 as shown on said map of
Tract 16287; thence South 41 08' 35" East along said line to a point of
intersection of the northeasterly prolongation of the southeasterly line
of said lot 1; thence along said prolongation southwesterly to the true
point of beginning.
Parcel B Commencing at the westerly corner of lot 18 of said Tract 16287;
thence northeasterly along the northwesterly line 36.59 feet to the true
point of beginning; thence North 85 24' 54" East 14.38 feet; thence South
41 08' 35" East 5.00 feet; thence North 50 28' 07" East 15.00 feet to a
point in the southerly line of O.R. 11379 -273 as shown on said map; thence
North 41 08' 35" West along said line to a point of intersection of the
northeasterly prolongation of the southwesterly line of said lot 18; thence
southwesterly along said prolongation to the true point of beginning.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to the authority of Sections 8330 and 8331 of the Streets
and Highways Code of the State of California, the City Council hereby determines
that the public convenience and necessity require the reservation of a permanent
easement and right at any time, or from time to time, to maintain, operate, replace,
remove, renew and enlarge conduits, cables, wires, poles, and other convenient
structures and fixtures for the operation of telephone and telegraph lines, and for
the transportation and distribution of water, electrical energy and incidental
purposes, including access and the right to keep the property free from flammable
materials and weed growth, and otherwise protect the same from all hazards, in,
upon, and over that portion of the Alley proposed to be vacated and described
hereinabove. All proceedings for the vacation of said Alley are taken and shall
be subject to the reservation of said described easement.
SECTION 3. The hour of 8 :00 A.M. on the 23rd day of December, 1968, is hereby
fixed as the time and the Council Chambers in the City Hall at 8425 Second Street,
Downey, California, is hereby fixed as the place for hearing all persons interested
in objecting to the proposed vacation of said alley.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall cause this Resolution to be published in
the manner required by Section 8322 of the Streets and Highways Code of the
State of California.
SECTION 5. Notices of the proposed Alley Vacation shall be posted in the
manner prescribed by said Section 8322.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
