HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2060 RESOLUTION NO. 2060 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY OPPOSING SENATE BILL 715 RELATING TO COMPOSITION OF BOARDS OF DIRECTORS OF COUNTY SANITATION DISTRICTS WHEREAS, the twenty -six County Sanitation Districts in Los Angeles County encompass and include all or a portion of seventy -one of the seventy -seven incorporated cities of the County. and unincorporated territory of the County; and WHEREAS, the composition of the Board of Directors as now provided by law, has provided an efficient, effective and harmonious form of organization for their respective governing bodies and WHEREAS. Senate Bill 715 proposes to compel substantial and drastic changes in the composition of boards of directors of county sanitation districts which arr deemed by this Board of Directors to be detrimental to the continued efficient, effective and harmonious operation of thos District and its cooperation with other County Sanitation Districts. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Downey, Los Angeles County, does hereby oppose Senate Bill 715 and urges the members of the State Legislature to reject said Bill and preserve the existing provisions of law relating to composition of boards of directors of county sanitation districts. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. APPROVED ANDIOMNTED this 13th day of May, 1968.
