A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
DESIGNATING DECEMBER 29, 1967 DELLA DOYLE DAY
WHEREAS, Miss Della Doyle was employed as City Clerk on December 17,
1956, upon incorporation of the City of Downey; and
WHEREAS, Miss Doyle was the first person employed by the City Council
to begin the ardent and numerous duties of setting up the City government
for a population of 83,000 people; and
WHEREAS, her background in office administration and employee relations
was especially suited for the position of City Clerk; and
on July 1, 1957,
WHEREAS, Miss Della Doyle was appointed City Treasurer /in the combination
of the two jobs to more effectively administer the affairs of the City Clerk
and Treasurer in one office; and
WHEREAS, Miss Della Doyle has endeared herself to members of the City
Council, department heads and all employees of the City as well as the citizens
of the City of Downey and also with the City Clerks Association throughout
the State of California; and
WHEREAS, after eleven years of employment with the City of Downey Della
Doyle has announced her official retirement effective January 1, 1968;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESJLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That in recognition of her outstanding, dedicated and loyal
service to the City of Downey, Friday, December 29, 1967, be designated
Della Doyle Day so that all of her friends may recognize and congratulate her,
SECTION 2. The Deputy City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution and deliver an official copy to Della Doyle.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 26th day of December, 1967.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted by the City
Council of the City of Downey at a regular meeting held thereof on the 26th
day of December, 1967, by the following vote:
AYES: 4 Councilmen: Morton, Dunnum, Temple, Dickerson
NOES: 0 Councilmen: None
ABSENT: 1 Councilmen: Corbin
