L-6' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY SUPPORTING THE CONCEPT OF ISSUANCE IN 1969 OF A UNITED STATES POSTAGE STAMP COMMEMORATING THE 200TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA WHEREAS, the City of Downey was named after Civil War Governor John Gately Downey and is approximately at the 100th anniversary as a community; and WHEREAS, the colorful background of the City of Downey is an integral part of the history and advancement of the State of California; and WHEREAS, the rich inheritance of our State and country is based upon the type of citizens who founded and have worked so diligently to make our City one of which we are all proud; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Council support the concept of the issuance in 1969 of a United States postage stamp commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the founding of the State of California. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and forward a copy to the City Clerk of the City of San Diego so that it may be included in the presentation to be made to the United States Post Office Depart- ment by San Diego's local committee. APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 28th day of November, 1967.
