A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
ORDERING VACATION OF A PORTION OF THE ALLEY LOCATED
BETWEEN MANZANAR AVENUE AND BROOKSHIRE AVENUE, SOUTH-
WESTERLY OF VISTA DEL RIO AVENUE
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 1954, the City Council of the City of Downey
adopted the 14th day of August, 1967, declared its intention to vacate that
portion of the alley located between Manzanar Avenue and Brookshire Avenue
southwesterly of Vista Del Rio Avenue, as shown on map on file in the office
of the City Clerk, and setting a hearing thereon for the hour of 7:30 P.M. on
September 11, 1967; and
WHEREAS, the public hearing on said intended vacation duly was held and
a full and fair hearing was held thereon.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Downey finds from all the
evidence submitted at said hearing that that portion of the alley located
between Manzanar Avenue and Brookshire Avenue, southwesterly on Vista Del Rio
Avenue, as shown on map on file in the office of the City Clerk hereinafter
described is unnecessary for present or prospective use, and it is hereby
ordered vacated. Said area so vacated is described as follows:
That portion of Tract No. 9856 recorded June 22, 1927 in Book 140,
Page 24 in the office of the County Recorder, County of Los Angeles,
State of California, described as follows:
Beginning at the most easterly corner of Lot 13 of said Tract No. 9856;
thence South 53 ° 24'45" West 360.72 feet to the most southerly corner
of Lot 19 of said Tract; thence South 22'31 ° 00" East 20.62 feet to the
northwesterly corner of Lot 1 of said Tract; thence North 53 ° 24'45"
East 365.74 feet to the most northerly corner of Lot 7 of said Tract;
thence North 36 ° 35'15" West 20.00 feet to the point of beginning.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to the authority of Sections 8330 and 8331 of the
Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, the City Council hereby
determines that the public convenience and necessity require the reservation of
a permanent easement and right at any time, or from time to time, to maintain,
operate, replace, remove, renew and enlarge lines of pipe, conduits, cables,
wires, poles, and other convenient structures and fixtures for the operation of
gas pipe lines, telephone and telegraph lines, and for the transportation and
distribution of water, electrical energy and incidental purposes, including
access and the right to keep the property free from flammable materials and weed
growth, and otherwise protect the same from all hazards, in, upon and over that
portion of the alley proposed to be vacated and described hereinabove. All pro-
ceedings for the vacation of said alley are taken and shall be subject to the
reservation of said described easement.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution
and cause a certified copy thereof, attested by the City Clerk under the Seal
of the City of Downey, to be recorded in the office of the County Recorder of the
County of Los Angeles.

of the City of Downey at a regular meeting held on the llth day of September, 1967,
