RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
ORDERING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO MAKE A REPORT
PURSUANT TO THE STREET LIGHTING ACT OF 1919
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 18040 of the
Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, the City Council
hereby orders the Director of Public Works of the City of Downey to
make and file with the City Clerk, a report in writing as contemplated
by said Street Lighting Act of 1919.
The alternative procedure for levying and collecting assessments
on ad valorem basis, as provided by Chapter 8.5 of Part . of Division
14 of the Streets and Highways Code, shall be followed, as set forth
in said Chapter 8.5.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution.

PRELYHTNARY REPORT
The proposed annexation cs shown on the attached plan Number SL-102 is
to be made in accordance with the Street Lighting Act of 1919.
The area to be annexed is described es Tract Number 22272, excepting
that portion which lies within the City of Paramount and those portions
of Lots 58 and 59 within the City of Downey, which have street frontages
within the City of Paramount.
The street lighting shall be a utility-owned system of metal standards
serviced by a single overhead wire.
The energy and maintenance cost to operate these lights shall be paid
for by the property owners by the levy of an ad valorem tax. The
period of this improvement is from July 1, 1968 to January 31, 1983.
ANNUAL OPERATING COST:
18 - 7,000 lumen mercury vapor lights
Energy and maintenance: $950.40
Engineering and Administration: 18.00
Total: $968.40
OPERATION:
Approximate cost to property owner: $0.26 per $100 assessed value of
land and improvements.
INSTALLATION:
One year installation cost: $0.59 per $100 assessed value of
land and improvements.
