RESOLUTION NO. 1834
A RESOLUTION OFATHE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DECLARING
ITS INTENTION TO ANNEX CERTAIN AREAS TO THE DOWNEY CITY LIGHTINN
DISTRICT AND TO MAINTAIN AND FURNISH ELECTRICAL CURRENT TO THOSE
STREET LIGHTING FIXTURES LOCATED ON THE STREETS AND PUBLIC gLACES
WITHIN THOSE AREAS UNTIL JANUARY 31, 1983 (ANNEXATION D - Zone I
AND ZONE II)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience require, and it is the
intention of the City Council of the City of Downey to order the annexation of
certain areas to the Downey City Lighting District, Zone I and Zone II, and to
maintain and furnish electrical current to those street lighting fixtures located
on portions of streets, avenues, places circles, parkways, courts, ways and drives
within said City, all as shown on diagram and Plan Nos. SL 56 and SL 59 through 65,
on file in the office of the City Clerk for a period of time beginning from the
formation of the district and ending January 31, 1983 in accordance with the Report
of the Director of Public Works dated November 22, 1966, on file in the office of
the City Clerk and which is hereby referred to and by this reference incorporated
herein and made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. The said annexation, in the opinion of the City Council, is of
more than local or ordinary benefit, said Council hereby makes the expense of said
work and improvement chargeable upon a district, which district said Council hereby
declares to be the district benefitted by said work and improvement, and to be
assessed to pay the cost and expense thereof, which said district is that portion of
the City of Downey as shown on Diagram and Plan Nos. SL 56 and SL 59 through 65, on
file in the office of the City Clerk, on which map the extent of said assessment
district is indicated and the exterior boundaries thereof are described by a
boundary line, and to which said map reference is hereby made for a complete and
detailed description of said district, excepting from said district any portion of
said diagram so on

file shall govern for all details as to the extent of said assessment district.
SECTION 3. Any lots or parcels of land known as public property, as the same
is defined in Section 18014 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of
California ( "Street Lighting Act of 1919 "), hereinafter referred to which are
included in the said assessment district, shall be omitted and exempt from the
assessment to be made to cover the costs and expenses of said contemplated improve-
ment.
SECTION 4. The improvement contemplated by the Resolution of Intention shall
be done under the provisions of the "Street Lighting Act of 1919 ", being Part I of
Division 14, of the Streets and Highways Code of the Sate of California, as amended,
and under the alternative procedure for ad valorem assessments provided for in
Chapter 8.5 of the "Street Lighting Act of 1919 ".
SECTION 5. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 18070 of said Streets and.
Highways Code, the City Council of the City of Downey hereby appoints the hour of
8:00 o'clock A.M., December 27, 1966, and the Council Chamber of the Downey City
Hall at 8425 Second Street, as the time and place for hearing protests in relation
to the proposed annexation.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall give notice of said hearing in the manner
provided in said Part I, Division 14 of said Streets and Highways Code. The publica-
tion of such notices, as required by Section 18072 of said Code shall be made in
the "Southeast News ", a newspaper published and circulated in the City and hereby
designated by said City Council for said purposes of publication.

SECTION 7. The Director of Public Works of the City of Downey shall cause
to be conspicuously poasted along all streets in the district where the improvement
is proposed to be made or which is to be assessed for the benefits thereof, at not
more than 300 feet apart but not less than 3 in all, notices of the passage of the
resolution as required by Section 18071 of said Streets and Highways Code.
SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
