A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY SUPPORTING THE NATIONAL CELEBRATION TO MAKE FREEDOM REALLY RING, JULY FOURTH WHEREAS, on July 4, 1776, our forefathers in unanimous declaration of their belief in freedom, jeopardized themselves and their families by signing the great Declaration of Independence; and WHEREAS, the Declaration of Independence and its message of freedom was the birth certificate of these United States of America; and WHEREAS, this great document announced the independence of the original thirteen states, inspired the revolution, and provided the great political principles upon which this new nation's government was founded; and WHEREAS, the Declaration of Independence is the finest instrument of human freedom promulgated in the history of man; and WHEREAS, this call to freedom has resounded down through the years and has echoed around the world. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. To urge all citizens in the community to join in this observance by the ringing of all church bells and other bells in the City of Downey at 11:00 A.M. P.D.T., taking part in the national celebration to Make Freedom Really Ring in every part of the country by the ringing of bells for four minutes. SECTION 2.
