A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY REQUESTING THE ASSEMBLY OF THE CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE TO REPEAL HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 47 RELATIVE TO FREEWAYS WHEREAS, the State of California Legislature, in 1959, adopted a Master Freeway and Expressway system; and WHEREAS, under the provision of Section 256 of the Streets and Highways Code the 1965 Session of the Legislature did after judicious study revise the Freeway and Expressway system by the additions to Route 90 (Slauson Freeway) and deletion of portions of Route 42 (Century Freeway); and WHEREAS, the 1966 Session of the Assembly of the California Legislature did adopt House Resolution No. 47 asking the Division of Highways and the Department of Public Works to desist from taking any further action with respect to Route 90; and WHEREAS, said resolution does not reflect the feelings or desires of the majority of the people in this area; and WHEREAS, a delay of one year in the planning and construction of Route 90 is unreasonable, since an immediate need exists for this facility; and WHEREAS, this city will oppose any efforts by the members of the Assembly to delete Route 90 from the Freeway and Expressway system; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1.
