HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 5439 J RESOLUTION NO. 5439 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY FINDING TEAT INCREASING AND IMPROVING THE COMMUNITY' 8 SUPPLY OF LOW -AND MODERATE- INCOME HOUSING OUTSIDE THE AREA ADDED BY AMENDMENT 51 TO THE DOWNEY REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT I8 OF BENEFIT TO THE PROJECT. WHEREAS, the Downey Community Development Commission (the "Commission ") has undertaken the formation of Amendment 5A to the Downey Redevelopment Project; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 33334.2(a) of the Community Redevelopment Law, not less that twenty percent (20 %) of all taxes which are allocated to the Agency from a project area shall be used for the purposes of increasing and improving the community's supply of low -and moderate - income housing; and WHEREAS, Section 33334.2(g) of the Community Redevelopment Law provides that the Commission may use such funds outside the Project Area upon adoption of a resolution by the Commission and by the legislative body finding that the provision of low -and moderate - income housing outside the Project Area is of benefit to the redevelopment project. WHEREAS, in accordance with the General Plan of the City of Downey, there is a limited amount of land suitable for residential development within the Project Amendment Area, while suitable locations for such housing are available in other parts of the community. NOW, THEREFORE, IT I8 HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNNCIL OF THE CITY OF.DOWNEY AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Pursuant to Section 33334.2(g) of the Community Redevelopment Law, the City Council hereby finds that the provision of low -and moderate - income housing outside the Redevelopment Project will be of benefit to the Project.
