A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ABANDON AREAS ONE AND THREE
OF ZONE FOUR OF THE DOWNEY CITY LIGHTING DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Downey on the 13th day of
May, 1963, approved and adopted Resolutions 1158 and 1159 ordering certain
•^ lighting fixtures, appurtenances and appliances on certain streets and
public places of said City to be maintained and electric current to be
furnished all in accordance with the Preliminary Report filed with the
City Clerk on April 23, 1963;
WHEREAS, the said Resolutions 1158 and 1159 set the period of improve-
ment to end the 31st day of January of 1983; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has received and filed written consent to
the abandonment of Downey City Lighting District, Zone 4, Areas 1 and 3
from the contractor, Southern California Edison Company;
WHEREAS, the City Council declares its intention to continue the
maintenance and energy services provided for by Resolutions 1158 and 1159.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience require, and it
is the intention of the City Council of the City of Downey to abandon
,Areas 1 and 3 of Zone 4 of the Downey City Lighting District as described
in Resolutions 1158 and 1159, and concurrently with such abandonment pro-
ceedings to reinstate the said Areas 1 and 3 by annexation to Zone 1 of the
Downey City Lighting District as shall be described in Resolution of
Intention No. pursuant to the provisions of Sections 18191 and

18192 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 18070 of said Streets
and Highways Code, the City Council of the City of Downey hereby appoints
the hour of 7:30 o'clock P.M. December 14, 1964, in the Council Chambers
in the City Hall of said City as the time and place for hearing protests in
relation to the proposed abandonment.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall give notice of said hearing in the
manner provided in Section 18072 of said Streets and Highways Code, Publication
of such notice as required by Section 18072 of said Code shall be made in the
"Southeast News ", a newspaper published and circulated in the City and hereby
designated by said City Council for said purpose of publication.
SECTION 4. The Director of Public Works of the City of Downey shall

cause to be conspicuously posted on all streets in the district where the
abandonment is proposed to be made at not more than 300 feet apart but not
less than 3 in all, notices of the passage of the Resolution as required by
Section 18071 of said Streets and Highways Code.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
