HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 1245 (1 1 RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY APPROVING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN RECORDS WITHIN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has advised the City Council that certain records within the Police Department of side City, which records all have been in existence for a period of more than five (5) years, are not required or necessary for the functioning and operation of the Police Department; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the destruction of said records will not in any way interfere with the services and functions of the Police Department or other departments of the City: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: SECTION 1. The City Council hereby approves the destruction of the following records which are in charge of the Police Chief of the City of Downey and approves the destruction of such records by said chief. (1) Duplicate copies of traffic citations dated prior to September 1st, 1958 (2) Miscellaneous police reports dated prior to September 1, 1958. (3) Misdemeanor crime reports dated prior to September 1, 1958, in those instances when no warrant has been issued for the arrest of the suspect named in the report. (4) All felony crime reports dated prior to September 1, 1958, if such reports have been cleared or closed or in the event no warrant has been issued for the arrest of any suspect named in the report. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this reso- lution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
