HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 1128 178 RESOLUTION NO. ,' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY OPPOSING THE ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 214 RELATING TO SPEED ZONE PAVEMENT MARKINGS — WHEREAS, Assembly Bill No. 214 has been introduced in the 1963 General Session of the California State Legislature; and WHEREAS, Assembly Bill No. 214 would require that various colored striping be used on roadways to denote various speed zones; and WHEREAS, such requirements would work an economic hardship on many cities in order to maintain such striping in a visible condition; and WHEREAS, an appreciable number of motorists are affected with color blindness and would not be able to distinguish among these mark- ings; and WHEREAS, a great majority of motorists are already aware of the speed limits in various zones; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Assembly Bill No. 214 be opposed because of the reasons stated above. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of the foregoing resolution and forward copies of this resolution to legislative representatives in Sacramento for this City.
