A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY SUPPORTING LEGISLATION REGULATING THE DEGREE OF DEGRAD- ABILITY OF SYNTHETIC DETERGENTS WHEREAS, the underground water supply can be affected by synthetic detergents which cannot be fully reduced in the water reclamation plant processes, and WHEREAS, there has been proposed in the 1963 regular session of the State Legislature to prohibit the use of detergents not biologically degradable NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Downey does hereby support and urge approval of legislation during this session of the State Legislature which will regulate the degree of degradability of synthetic detergents to the extent that sewage effluents or reclaimed waters from sewage will not cause nuisance or be restricted from use for beneficial purposes due to residual detergent in the water after treatment. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and forward copies of the same to our local representatives in the California. State Legislature.
