A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY OPPOSING ASSEMBLY BILL 1194 RELATIVE TO MAXIMUM HOURS OF FIREMEN -- WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 1194 as introduced by Assemblyman Knox of the Municipal and County Government Committee sets forth certain regulations relative to the employment of firemen by local agencies; and WHEREAS, said Assembly Bill 1194 specifically stipulates that the employment of firemen in local agencies shall not exceed 56 hours a week; and home this is legislation infringing upo n local ho e rule and the interference of local administrative and legislative control; and WHEREAS, such regulations would be costly to each local agency involved through the necessity to employ additional personnel; and WHEREAS, the League of California Cities recommends opposing Assembly Bill 1194; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Downey shall oppose Assembly Bill 1194, relative to regulating maximum hours of firemen. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and forward copies to legislative representatives in the area.
