HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 1002 RESOLUTION NO. /C :4:2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY APPROVING THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE STATE DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS FOR REVISING SPEED LIMITS ON LAKEWOOD BOULEVARD IN THE CITY OF DOWNEY WHEREAS, a speed zone survey has been conducted on Lakewood Boulevard, a State Highway (VII -LA- 168 -Dny) through the City of Downey; and WHEREAS, in view of the observed speeds and roadside conditions, the following speed limit changes have been recommended by the State Division of Highways: 1. From the southerly City boundary approximately 750 feet south of Deming Avenue - Lower the existing speed limit from 45 M.P.H. to 40 M.P.H. 2. From a point approximately 750 feet south of Deming Avenue to a point 600 feet south of Stewart & Gray Road - No change in the existing 45 M.P.H. 3. From a point approximately 600 feet south of Stewart & Gray Road to a point approximately 500 feet south of Bellflower Boulevard - Lower the existing 45 M.P.H. to 40 M.P.H. 4. From a point approximately 500 feet south of Bellflower Boulevard to the northerly City boundary - Raise the exist- ing 35 M.P.H. to 40 M.P.H. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Downey hereby approves the recommendations of the State Division of Highways for the changes in the speed limits on Lakewood Boulevard in the City of Downey. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall forward two (2) certified copies of this resolution to the Department of Public Works for transmittal to the State Division of Highways.
