HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 0961 RESOLUTION NO.961 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY REQUESTING " HIGHWAYS THROUGH CITIES" COUNTY AID FUNDS ON DOWNEY AVENUE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. It is hereby requested that the County of Los Angeles parti- cipate in the financing of the hereinafter specified street improvement out of "Highways Through Cities" County Ait Funds, and advance to the City the amount of aid specified for the project described below. The nature of the project and estimated cost thereof, and the reason for improvement are set forth here- inafter: a. The widening of Downey Avenue at various locations between Florence Avenue and Gallatin Road. i. This project entails the acquisition of right of way and construction of curbs, gutters and cross gutters, and pavement widening to complete approximately 0.61 miles of this street improvement. ii. It is proposed that the major portion of right of way will be acquired gratis, and that construction will be accomplished by contract resulting from competitive bidding procedures. iii. The total estimated cost of the right of way acquisition and construction amounts to approximately $120,000.00, $60,000.00 of which is requested from "Highway Through Cities" County Aid Funds for acquisition of right of way and construction. iv. Downey Avenue is shown on the Master Plan of Highways as being an 80 foot street with additional rights of way yet to be acquired. SECTION 2. The project described above has been found and is hereby determined to be of general Los Angeles County interest. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resol- ution and forward a. certified copy thereof to Mr. N. H. Templin, Los Angeles County Road Commissioner. APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of April, 1962.
