RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
DECLARING, BY PRECINCTS IN THE WHOLE OF SAID CITY
COUNCILMANIC DISTRICTS NO. 2 AND 4, THE RESULT OF THE
GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD THEREIN ON TUESDAY,
APRIL 10, 1962, AND DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE CANVASS
OF THE VOTERS CAST AT SAID ELECTION
WHEREAS, a general municipal election was held and conducted in the
City of Downey on Tuesday, the 10th of April, 1962, as required by law;
and
WHEREAS, notice of said election duly and legally was given, voting
precincts were properly established, election officers were appointed
and election supplies furnished, and in all respects said election was
held and conducted and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed, and
the returns thereof made, determined and declared in the time, form and
manner as required by the Elections Code and the Government Code of the
State of California providing for and regulating municipal elections in
cities; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of said City met at the Council Chamber
thereof on Tuesday, April 17, 1962, to canvass the returns of said
election; and
WHEREAS, the said City Council finds as a result of said canvass
that the number of votes cast, the names of the persons voted for and
other matters required by law to be as hereinafter stated.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE,
DETERMINE AND DECLARE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That said regular municipal election was held and con-
e ducted in the City of Downey on Tuesday the 10th day of April, 1962, in
the time, form and manner as required by law; and the votes cast thereat
were duly and regularly canvassed, including absent voter ballots, and the
returns thereof made in the time, form and manner provided by law.
That there were 28 voting precincts established in said City for the
purpose of holding said election as formed and established by Resolution No.
934 of the City Council of said City adopted the 13th day of February, 1962,
a copy of which resolution is attached hereto marked Exhibit "A" and by this
reference made a part hereof.
That the whole number of votes cast in said city at said election was
5,226.
That the names of the persons voted for, the offices for which they were
voted and the number of votes given at each precinct for each of said persons,
together with the whole number of votes given within each district for each
of said persons are as set forth in that said document attached hereto
marked Exhibit "B" and by this reference made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. That said regular general municipal election was held for
the purpose of electing the following officers of said City as required by the
laws relating to general law cities in the state of California, and that the
City Council does declare and determine that:
Scott E. Temple was elected as Member of the City Council from District
�r of said City for the full term of four years;
Thomas H. Morton was elected as Member of the City Council from District
#4 of said City for the full term of four years.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City
Council a statement of the result of the election showing:
(1) The whole number of votes cast in said City of Downey;
(2) The names of the persons voted for in each district;
(3) The number of votes given at each precinct to each of such
persons.
(4) The number of votes given in each of said Councilmanic
Districts of said City of Downey to each of such persons.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall immediately make and deliver to each
of said persons thus elected a certificate of election signed by him and
duly authenticated and the City Clerk shall administer the constitutional
oath of office to the persons elected to the office of City Councilman and
thereupon such Councilmen shall be inducted into the respective offices to
which they have been elected.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution.
