HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 0900 RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY IN MEMORY OF REX H. DYER, JR. WHEREAS, REX H. DYER, JR. had established himself and his family in a position of prominence in the City of Downey through his affiliations with business associates and civic organizations; and WHEREAS, Mr. Rex H. Dyer's assistance, guidance and civic contribution of time and donation of books was a strong factor in the establishing of the Downey City Library; and WHEREAS, during the initial period of establishment of the library, the use of Mr. Dyer's book store and his books provided the necessary legal library facilities under the statutes of the State of California; and WHEREAS, Mr. Rex H. Dyer, Jr. was appointed the first librarian of the City of Downey to serve in this position during the initial formation of the City Library from January 31, 1958 to April 28, 1958; and WHEREAS, during his entire residence in the City of Downey, Mr. Dyer and his wife, Virginia, have contributed materially to the civic program of the community; and WHEREAS, the City of Downey, by the untimely death of Mr. Rex H. Dyer, Jr. has suffered the loss of one of its most valued citizens; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Council expresses its regret of the death of Mr. Rex H. Dyer, Jr. and ettends to his family its heartfelt sympathy and condolence. SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and cause a duly inscribed copy to be forwarded to Mrs. Rex H. Dyer, Jr. and family. APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 13th day of November, 1961.
