RESOLUTION NO. 795
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
OPPOSING A.B. NO. 2728
WHEREAS, A.B. No. 2728 has been introduced in the 1961 regular
session of the California State Legislature, and
WHEREAS, said bill provides a means for the forming of Multiple
Districts contrary to the will of the voters within that individual
city, and further provides for the performing of certain functions
within each city within such proposed district regardless of whether
the citizens of any particular city approve.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That this City Council expresses its opposition to
A.B. No. 2728 in that it has the potential for doing away with home
rule.
SECTION 2. This City Council urgently requests all members of
the State Legislature to oppose the adoption of said bill.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution and cause copies thereof to be sent to the appropriate
representatives.

RESOLUTION NO. 795A
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
ENDORSING THE DOWNEY YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICE
WHEREAS, the Downey Youth Employment Service is a Community
-- project, co- sponsored by the Downey Lions Club and the Downey Lionette's
and endorsed by many civic, fraternal and community organizations in the
City of Downey; and
WHEREAS, the Downey Youth Employment Service is a project helpful
to all of the youth of Downey and will aid in the overall curbing of
juvenile delinquency as well as improving the individual progress and
development of the youth of our City, and
WHEREAS, this project also will ultimately benefit the City of
Downey as a whole in many respects and is therefore a worthy and worthwhile
project.
NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council go on record as endorsing the Downey
Youth Employment Service and recommend that the people of the City of
Downey cooperate in every manner possible with this project and work for
its success, and this City Council will do everything within its power
to augment this civic endeavor.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution.
