A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
REQUESTING THE EXPENDITURE OF COUNTY AID TO CITIES FUNDS
ON DOWNEY AVENUE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. It is hereby requested that the County of LosAngeles finance
the hereinafter described highway safety lighting improvement project out of
County Aid to Cities Funds and advance to said City of Downey the amount of
aid specified for the project described below. The nature of the project,
the estimated cost thereof, and the reasons for its improvement are set forth
as follows:
The installation of 11 highway safety lights at the inter -
section of Downey Avenue with Second Street, Third Street,
Fourth Street, LaVilla Street, Fifth Street, and Sixth Street.
1. This project is being accomplished in conjunction
with an assessment district for the properties on
Downey Avenue between the Southern Pacific Railway
tracks and Sixth Street, w}aich provides for the
installation of 35,000 lumen mercury vapor street
lighting.
ii. This work will be accomplished by contract, result-
ing from competitive bid procedures. It is estimated
that the cost of this highway safety lighting will
not exceed $7,000.
iii. Downey Avenue as shown on the County Master Plan of
Highways as being a secondary street.
SECTION 2. The project has been found and is hereby determined to be
of general Los Angeles County interest.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution
and forward a copy thereof to Mr. N. H. Templin, Los Angeles County Road Comm-
issioner.
