A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DETERMINING
THE NATURE, LOCATION AND EXTENT_ OF WORK, AND ORDERING TI. INVESTI-
GATION. REPORT BY. THE CITY ENGINEER IN CONFORMITY WITH SECTION 2825
OF THE STREETS AND HIGHWAYS CODE OF THE STATE. OF CALIFORNIA IN
CONNECTION WITH ASSESSMENT DISTRICT NO. 50.. °DOWNEY . AVENUE)
WHEREAS, it has been determined that a majority of the property
owners within the district proposed to be formed for the improvement
of Downey Avenue, by the construction and installation of certain
electric lighting system and appurtenances and work appurtenant
thereto, desires such improvement; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable that the City of Downey now institute
proceedings for this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That proceedings are hereby instituted for the
construction and installation of an ornamental street lighting
system, including trenching, backfilling, conduit and wiring,
ornamental standards with globes and light bulbs, concrete bases,
�^ pole boxes, appurtenances and work appurtenant thereto, in accord-
ance with, and as shown on, that certain Improvement Plan No. 1- 14 -14,
and those certain specifications entitled "City of Downey - Assess-
ment District No. 50 - Street Lighting Improvements- Specifications -
The modification and installation of all electrolier standards -
Downey Avenue between Southern Pacific Railroad and New Street ".
Said improvement plan and specifications having been approved 1;y
the said City Council by Resolution No. 643 adopted August 8, 1960.
That the district of lands proposed to be assessed
for such improvement shall include, in general, that area in and
along Downey Avenue, between its intersection with the northerly
boundry of the. Southern Pacific Company's railroad right of way,
approximately 65 feet South of the southerly right of way line of

Nance Street, and the junction of said Downey Avenue and New Street,
approximately 90 feet North of the northerly right of way line of
Sixth Street, as more specifically described in that certain plat
or map shall govern as to all details as to the extent and boundries

of said district. That this ro'ect shall be known as "Assessment

District No. 50" (Downey Avenue).
SECTION 2. The City-Engineer of the Cit.- of Downey, LEE P.

LEAVITT, is hereb. directed to prepare a written report containing
a hereby P P P g
all. the information as required by Section 2825 of the Streets and
Highways Code of the State of California, being the Special Assess-
ment Investigation, Limitation and Majority Protest Act of 1931,
Division 4 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California.
SECTION 3. The said improvement'proceedings shall be conducted
in accordance with the Improvement Act of 1911, being Division 7 of
the said Streets and Highways Code. .
SECTION 4. A certified copy of this resolution shall be for -
warded to the said City Engineer and the same shall be attached
to the report herein ordered, upon its presentation to the said
City Council.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution.
