A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
Dt iA EY AFFIRMING THE POLICY OF THE LEAGUE OF
CALIFORNIA CITIES RELATIVE TO WORKING CONDITIONS
OF MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES.
WHEREAS, the League of California Cities, through action of
its Board of Directors, has adopted a policy opposing legislation
violating or infringing upon the principle of home rule; and
WHEREAS, the League of California Cities has so determined
that any mandatory state legislation pertaining to city employees!
wages or benefits and conditions of employment would be in viola-
tion of the home rule principle and should be opposed; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of the City of
Downey that such policy should be supported and that it is neces-
sary that such matters be determined by each city to meet its own
particular problems;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF D WNEY DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the policy of the Board of Directors
of the League of California Cities in opposition to mandatory state
legislation pertaining to city employees wages or benefits and
conditions of employment be supported, and that all legislation of
such character and any other legislation violating or infringing
upon the principle of home rule, be opposed.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution and cause certified copies thereof to
be forwarded to such members of the state legislature as may be
deeted advisable from time to time.
