CALL TO ORDER : U Meeting was called to order at 4:07 PM. Members Present: Sean Ashton, Bob Ciatti, Lars Clutterham, George Manza nilla, Janet Molinaro (arr. 4:29pm), Patrick Owens, Alex Saab, Anna Valcarcel Members Absent: Jonathan Cousimano, Jose Magana (excused) Staff: Shannon DeLong, Staff Liaison, Office of the City Manager II . CONSENT CALENDAR: U It was moved by Mr. Ashton, s econded by Mr. Owens, and unanimously carried to accept the August 24 minutes. III. OLD BUSINESS: U 1. Green T ask Force report on outreach (Short - Term Goal #2) Chair Clutterham noted that he is continuing his column with the Downey Patriot as an educatio nal feature outside of the Green Task Force, though topics are aligned with certain Task Force goals. 2. W ebsite maintenance (Short Term Goals #2 and #5) Chair Clutterham noted the recent updates to the Task Force’s pages on the City website and encouraged members to visit the page. 3. Report on FY 2011 - 12 focus on Transportation (Long - Term Goal #2) Chair Clutterham reported on his attendance at recent Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) meetings with regard to the Long Range Transportation Plan and its bicycle, electric vehicle and public transportation opportunities. 4. Report on Water Conservation Education/Outreach (Short - Term Goal #3) Due to time constraints , this item was removed from the agenda by Chair Clutterham. I. NEW BUSINES S: U 1. Report from Kiwanis Green Team Alex Gaytan, a local educator and member of Downey Kiwanis, provided an overview of a summertime program for children at Independence Park called the Kiwanis Green Team. Local youth spent the summer participating in various litter and graffiti clean - up projects, learned about the health impacts of smoking, obesity, and pollution, and were encouraged to learn more about environment and health concerns. Downey City Councilmember Fernando Vasquez and Mr. Gaytan presente d certificates from the City to members of the Kiwanis Green Team in appreciation of their hard work and dedication over the summer. Green Team students spoke with regard to their personal opinions on various environmental and health topics. V. PUBLIC C OMMUNICATIONS: U There were none. VI. GREEN TASK FORCE COMMUNICATIONS U There were none. VII. STAFF COMMUNICATIONS: U There were none. VII.
