RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
DECLARING, BY PRECINCTS IN THE WHOLE OF SAID CITY, THE
RESULT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD THEREIN
ON TUESDAY, APRIL 12, 1960, AND DECLARING THE RESULT
OF THE CANVASS OF THE VOTERS CAST AT SAID ELECTION
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, a general municipal election was held and conducted in the
City of Downey on Tuesday, the 12th of April, 1960, as required by law;
and
WHEREAS, notice of said election duly and legally was given, voting
precincts were properlY established, election officers were appointed
and election supplies furnished, and in all respects said election was
held and conducted and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed, and
the returns thereof made, determined and declared in the time, form and
manner as required by the Elections Code and the Government Code of the
State of California providing for and regulating municipal elections in
cities; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of said City met at the Council Chamber
thereof on Tuesday, April 19, 1960, to canvass the returns of said
election; and
WHEREAS, the said City Council finds as a result of said canvass
that the number of votes cast, the names of the persons voted for and
other matters required by law to be as hereinafter stated;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES RESOLVE,
DETERMINE AND DECLARE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That said regular municipal election was held and con-
ducted in the City of Downey on Tuesday the 12th day of April, 1960, in
the time, form and manner as required by law; and the votes case thereat
were duly and - regularly canvassed, including absent voter ballots, and
the returns thereof made in the time, form and manner provided by law.
That there were 51 voting precincts established in said City for the
purpose of holding said election as formed and established by Resolution
No. 562 of the City Council of said City adopted the 26th day of January,
1960, a copy of which resolution is attached hereto marked Exhibit ► "A" and
by this reference made a part hereof.
That the whole number of votes case in said city at said election
was 8533
That the names of the persons voted for, the offices for which they
were voted and the number of votes given at each precinct for each of said
persons, together with the whole number of votes given within each district
for each of said persons are as set forth in that said document attached
hereto marked Exhibit r'B" and by this reference made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. That there was submitted to the voters of said City at
said general municipal election proposition No. 1 as follows:
"Shall each of the City Councilmen of the City of Downey be
entitled to receive a monthly compensation of $150.00 ?"
That the number of votes given at each precinct for and against said
measure and the number of votes given in the entire city for and against
said measure are as set forth in that certain document attached hereto
marked Exhibit "C" and by this reference made a part hereof.

SECTION 3. That at said general municipal election Carroll M. Dunnum
was elected from District #1 for a four -year term; Hollis M. Peavey was
elected from District #3 for a four -year term; and Ben Corbin was elected
from District #5 for a four -year term; each of said persons so declared
elected having been elected to the office of Councilman of the City of
Downey for the district indicated; that said proposition 1 is declared to
have failed' to carry.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City
Council a statement of the result of the election showing:
(1) The whole number of votes cast in said City of Downey;
(2) The names of the persons voted for in each district;
(3) The measures voted upon;
(4) The number of votes given at each precinct to each
of such persons and for and against each measure;
(5) The number of votes given in each of said council -
manic districts of said City of Downey to each of
such persons and the number of votes given in said
City for and against said measure.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall immediately make and deliver to each
of said persons thus elected a certificate of election signed by him and
duly authenticated and the City Clerk shall administer the constitutional
oath of office to the persons elected to the office of City Councilman and
thereupon such Councilmen shall be inducted into the respective offices to
which they have been elected.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of April , 1960.

thereof held on the 19th day of April , 1960 by the following
